 With our commitment to environmental excellence, OOCL is proud to receive the “Green Shipping Award” at the Seatrade Maritime Awards Asia ceremony in Hong Kong on June 28, 2019.
Highly recognized as one of the most important events in the industry, this distinguished award celebrates and recognizes our exceptional accomplishments in environmental sustainability.
This awards program pays tribute to an organization with remarkable achievements in areas on green technology investment, carbon management, compliance to environmental regulations, promotion in environmental awareness and maintaining an outstanding reputation in the industry. Through years of efforts and dedication, this award win is undoubtedly a milestone for OOCL, reflecting our persistent commitment to achieving environmental excellence.
Over the years, OOCL has been investing in the latest green technologies for our new vessels. Our G-Class vessels which perform 48% better than the Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI) baseline requirement not only meets current environmental requirements, but they are also ready for the future. In terms of emissions management, OOCL’s Carbon Calculator was developed to help customers measure the carbon footprint in their global supply chains and enable them to choose the best shipping routes in order to meet their green objectives. We also actively collaborate with relevant industry bodies and environment-focused organizations on responsible business practices in the industry and in the promotion of environmental awareness.
Upon receiving the award at the event, OOCL Director of Trades Mr. Raymond Fung said: “As a global carrier with our roots deep in Hong Kong, OOCL is very proud to receive this honor in our homeland. Taking the award for two consecutive years is a huge encouragement for us to continue our commitment to protecting our environment. Looking ahead, we have much to do look forward to as we continue to take on a leadership role in implementing many important initiatives to address global social and environmental challenges, including our support for the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and efforts in other related aspects that contribute to the success and comprehensiveness of our overall sustainability profile.
