Forklift trucks get greener |
|
Production has started on Doosan Industrial Vehicles' (DIV) largest forklift trucks yet which are equipped with the innovative new G2 engine to meet EU emissions standards without needing a diesel particulate filter (DPF).
The mighty 7-Series range brings to the market trucks between 10 and 16 tonnes which are ideally suited to demanding industrial environments including work at bulk terminals.
Tim Waples, director, DIV UK, said: “The G2 engines fitted across the range complies with the latest Euro Stages IIIB and IV emissions regulations. We are already receiving UK orders ahead of the UK launch later this year as customers can see what a leap forward the 7-Series represents for the big trucks market.”
Doosan’s said that the new D100S-7 and D160S-7 trucks also set a benchmark for fuel consumption at a time of ever increasing costs for forklift users.
Both trucks are fitted with Doosan's award winning G2 engine which uses Diesel Oxidation Catalyst (DOC) exhaust treatment technology combined with an Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) system gives 23% lower fuel consumption than engines of a comparable size.
Apparently, this also means longer maintenance intervals and maintenance-free after treatment systems reducing the total cost of ownership over the life of the engine.
Doosan invested millions of British pounds in developing the G2 engine in-house. The company said that the result is an engine which is a game changer in diesel combustion which has created a new benchmark against which others can be measured.
