Admiralty and Maritime Law Guide

The Admiralty and Maritime Law Guide includes over 1,500 annotated links to admiralty law resources on the Internet and a growing database of admiralty case digests, opinions and international maritime conventions.

British Maritime Law Association

The British Maritime Law Association was founded in 1908. Its purpose is and always has been to promote the study and the advancement of British maritime and mercantile law: to promote and consider with foreign and other maritime law associations proposals for the unification of maritime and mercantile law in the practice of different nations: to afford opportunities for members to discuss matters of national and international maritime law: to collect and circulate amongst its members information regarding maritime and mercantile law and to establish a collection of publications and documents of interest to members.

Comite Maritime International - Maritime Law

A non-governmental not-for-profit international organization established in Antwerp in 1897, the object of which is to contribute by all appropriate means and activities to the unification of maritime law in all its aspects.

IMO - Maritime Legal Matters

IMO is primarily concerned with the safety of shipping and the prevention of marine pollution, but the Organization has also introduced regulations covering liability and compensation for damage, such as pollution, caused by ships.
The Torrey Canyon disaster of 1967, which led to an intensification of IMO's technical work in preventing pollution, was also the catalyst for work on liability and compensation. An ad hoc Legal Committee was established to deal with the legal issues raised by the world's first major tanker disaster and the Committee soon became a permanent subsidiary organ of the IMO Council, meeting twice a year to deal with any legal issues raised at IMO.
The United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea covers some issues not regulated under IMO treaty instruments - for example, the jurisdictional power of the coastal State.

Institute of Maritime Law

The Institute of Maritime Law was founded in 1982 to give focus to an existing interest in maritime and international trade law as these subjects had been an important feature of law at Southampton for some ten years.

ISSA (International Shipsuppliers & Services Association)

This Code of Ethics has been adopted by the members of the International Ship Suppliers Association as a standard of business conduct which will not only provide for fair competition, but will also be a criterion of good business practice.

It is intended to emphasise the high standard of business morals that guide its membership, and as further proof to the shipping industry that ISSA members are companies of repute and trustworthiness.
